Nasseam McPherson James
Nasseam McPherson James is currently the Interim Health Officer for and Assistant Director over Operations at the Florida Department of Health Orange County. Nasseam joined DOH Orange from the FDOH Children’s Medical Services, where she held the position of Regional Program Administrator for the Central Region consisting of Brevard, Orange, Osceola and Seminole counties. Prior to working for CMS Nasseam worked in various senior leadership roles with the Florida Department of Health in Seminole County and the Florida Department of Health in Highlands County. Before joining the department in 2012 Nasseam worked as the Compliance and Quality Assurance Director for the ELC of Marion County and a clinical team member for Hospice.
Nasseam has served on many boards and committees over the years to include the Early Learning Coalition of Florida’s Heartland, Children’s Services Council, Leadership Ocala Marion Board of Regents, and Junior League International. She currently is the Quality Chair for Central Florida Health Care, Inc and the CFHC We Care Board Chair.
Nasseam is a graduate of both Focus on Leadership Class VIII and Leadership Ocala Marion Class XIII. Nasseam was honored by the chamber as a recipient of the Jane Mansfield Award for Outstanding Dedication to Leadership and Community Services and was named a Marion Top Forty Under 40 Leader. Nasseam earned her BSW from the University of South Florida and then an MSW/ Social Policy and Administration from the Florida State University. During the same period Nasseam also completed graduate certification in Leadership in Executive Administration and Development from the Florida State University. Nasseam completed her Executive MBA at the University of Central Florida in Orlando and is now in pursuit of her Doctorates in Public Health.
