Volunteer Program

Florida Department of Health in Orange County

  • Interested in Volunteering?

Volunteers are needed for many programs and services at various locations throughout Orange County.  If you would like to become a volunteer with our agency please complete our Volunteer Application.

The following are requirements for all Interns and Volunteers:

  • All prospective volunteers are asked to fill out a Volunteer Services Application Once the application is received you will be called for an interview to ensure proper placement.
  • Background screening is required for volunteers who are placed in areas which have access to confidential information or who have direct contact with clients.
  • All volunteers are required to attend a volunteer orientation, and training if needed.

Under Florida law, e-mail addresses are public records. If you do not want your e-mail address released in response to a public records request, do not send electronic mail to this entity. Instead, contact this office by phone or in writing.

  • Looking for Internship Opportunities?

For students that are interested in interning with our agency please complete our Internship Application. Also, below is a list of our Internships which requires specific criteria for acceptance. 

  • Clinical/Medical/Nursing (PDF 10KB) *An active Affiliation or Fellowship Agreement with the Department of Health in Orange County is required.

At this time, the following program areas are no longer accepting any internship applications for Spring 2017:

  • Epidemiology - Until February 2017
  • Office of Performance and Quality Improvement
  • Clinical Trials & Research - Until June 2017
  • Family Planning & Prenatal Health - Nursing Students Only
  • Healthy Start/Mom Care
  • Environmental Health

Please note the following are requirements for all Interns and Volunteers:

  • All prospective  volunteers and interns must fill out an application to be considered. Once the application is received and reviewed you may be contacted for an interview if space is available.
  • A Level 2 Background screening/fingerprinting is required for all volunteers and interns. This is completed by our Human Resources Department and you will be contacted to schedule an appointment if needed.
  • All volunteers and interns are required to attend an orientation and complete required trainings before they report to their new assignments.
