Holden Heights Front Porch and Simeon Resource and Development Center are extending an invitation to you or a designee, to attend a town hall meeting, to have a frank discussion regarding the impact of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) on our youth, families, and communities.

A professional panel will share why every elected official, leader, social and civic groups should become knowledgeable about an issue that contributes to the poor outcomes among every group in our community. Every

SOCIOECONOMIC GROUP IS IMPACTED.

Each day, hundreds of children in our community experience what are known as ACEs, or Adverse Childhood Experiences. ACEs is the most neglected public health threat to our children.  These toxic stress events can be triggered by traumatic events such violence, abuse, and the loss of a parent through abandonment, death, or divorce.  Anyone of which, can severely impact early brain and neurological development.

As the number of childhood toxic events rise, so does the risk of school failure, mental illness, incarceration, drug addiction and death.  Lifespans can be cut short as much as 20 years.  By building a more resilient community, we can break these cycles of violence, abuse, addiction, and poverty.

This will be an eye-opening experience as you hear from experts, and learn about what is being done in our community to address the issue. There will also be testimonials from those who have been impacted by ACEs.  Please join us or send a designee that can share with you this important information.
