15th Annual Caribbean Health Summit

The community is invited to the 15th Annual Caribbean Health Summit on September 8, 2018 at the Central Florida Fair & Exposition Park (Fairgrounds), 4603 West Colonial Drive, Orlando. This free community event will provide health screenings and health information, and is hosted by the Center for Multicultural Wellness and Prevention Inc. The doors will open at 8:00 am.

 The event Co-chairs are City of Orlando Commissioner Regina Hill and Orange County Commissioner Victoria P. Siplin, and is planned and implemented in collaboration with the Caribbean American Chamber of Commerce of Florida Inc., the Greater Haitian American Chamber of Commerce of Orlando, and Florida Department of Health in Orange County.

“Healthy Body, Mind & Spirit” is the theme of this year’s health summit, which emphasizes taking care of not only your body but your mind and spirit as well. 

At the summit, health experts will share important strategies to embrace your health through prevention of diseases; improving wellness and quality of life. Health screenings will include Prostate Specific Antigen (PSA) exams, Eye exams, Dental exams, Body Mass Index (BMI), Cholesterol, Glucose (blood sugar), Blood pressure, HIV/Syphilis, Mental Health assessment, and lots more. 

The summit will offer mammogram screening on Friday, September 7th and on Saturday, September 8th by appointment only. To schedule a free mammogram screening, please call (407) 648-9440 ext. 0. 

 This family fun event will also include a Kid’s Corner presented by Disney.

Center for Multicultural Wellness and Prevention Inc. (CMWP) is a 501 (c) 3 not-for-profit organization with the mission to enhance the health, wellness and quality of life for diverse and ethnic populations in Central Florida.  Celebrating its 20th year in the community, this nonprofit has a well-defined history of providing health education and outreach to Central Florida’s minority population. CMWP is an established non-clinical setting, health education and outreach agency in Orlando, Florida. The organization has successfully partnered with community and social agencies to effectively address the health education needs of Central Florida’s minority communities.
