DOH-Orange Expands Dental Services to Serve Ryan White Clients

ORLANDO, FL - The Dental Program at the Florida Department of Health in Orange County is proud to announce their expansion of service offerings to the Department’s Ryan White clients.

Since July 28, 2021, the Dental program has dedicated one day a week at its Central campus, located in downtown Orlando, to Ryan White clients of record on a referral bases from the Department’s Sunshine Care Clinic.

Services include dental examinations, x-rays, cleanings, fluoride placement and oral hygiene instruction, fillings, and extractions. Currently, there are 15 Ryan White clients in the Dental program. Those individuals have attended 34 visits and received 316 dental services. 

“After some months of dreaming and weeks of planning, we now have the ability to provide dental services to low-income individuals that battle the HIV virus,” said Dr. Raul Pino Health Officer for the Florida Department of Health in Orange County. “Oral health is important because it impacts an individual’s overall health, and that is why this program plays a vital role in wellness efforts.”

Besides serving Ryan White Clients, the Dental program offers preventative and restorative services for children. Adult services are limited to emergency care only. For details, contact the Dental program at 407-858-1478.
