Babies don't come with instructions, so the Florida Department of Health in Orange County in partnership with the Healthy Start Coalition of Orange now has the free training every dad needs. Boot Camp for New Dads is an educational program taught by fathers for new fathers.  A $25 fee (to cover the cost of the book) is charged for the three hour workshop covering not only baby care and fatherhood, but also the needs of new mothers.

During the first hour discussions on topics such as: Forming a New Family, The Changing Role of Fathers, Ensuring Your Baby's Safety and Helping Mom with Breast feeding.
The second hour is a hands-on opportunity for prospective dads to practice their baby care skills, such as changing a diaper, feeding, and burping, all under the guidance of veteran dads who bring their new babies to class.  The third hour is an interactive session featuring the best advice that veteran dads can offer new rookies. Classes are offered throughout the county at several locations and advanced registration is required. Expecting dads can register at Healthy Start Coalition of Orange's Web Site.
