A key component of public health, environmental public health focuses on preventing and controlling human diseases caused or impacted by our environment. Many aspects of our environment, both built (pools, sidewalk, and park access) and natural (water, air, soil, and food), can impact our health.
Environmental public health professionals work to prevent disease and create healthy environments that promote well-being, fostering healthy, and safe communities by ensuring the safety of what we eat, breathe, touch, and drink.
Statewide activities focus on prevention, preparedness, and education through routine monitoring, outreach, surveillance, and sampling of facilities and other environments that may contribute to injuries and the occurrence or transmission of disease
Florida Water Quality
Protecting Florida Together map delivers statewide water quality information for blue-green algae and red tide (harmful algal blooms). You can sign-up to receive notifications when water quality changes in your area.
The Environmental Health program is responsible for monitoring conditions within the community that could present a threat to health and safety of the public and preventing any potential problems.
Payment Portal
The Florida Department of Health payment portal for Environmental Public Health has had some recent changes:
- The MyFloridaEHPermit payment portal currently only houses septic permit invoices.
- All other invoices are now found at the new EPHD payment portal.
To login to the new EPHD payment portal:
- Please first try using your existing MyFloridaEHpermit.com login information to access the new payment portal.
- If you encounter a login error, create a new account using the same email as used in the previous payment portal. If you encounter problems, let us know.
- In order to create a new account you will need to know your permit number and the BID number of the unpaid invoice in that record.
- Reply to HSE_RehostHelp@FLHealth.gov letting us know your account has been created. We will link your billing history to your account in the new payment portal. Please include a permit number to assist us in locating that history.
A note about printing: Some clients have indicated that they were unable to print their recently renewed permits from the online billing portal. We are working to address this issue, and the fix should be in place within the next one to two business days.
What if I need my document ASAP?
For invoices that have been paid, the client can contact the county health department that issues their license/permit/certificate. The CHD can confirm that the client is in compliance, and generate the current year’s permit as a PDF and email it to the customer.
How do I complete payment for additional invoices?
Once the account is created, the client can search for records to add to their customer grid. Once the record is added to the grid, whatever sum total is due for that record will be displayed as DUE.
The client should repeat the above step for all records with outstanding invoices. The payment portal is not an account management website
If you do not intend to pay for an invoice there is no point in adding it to your customer grid. It will not be seen the next time you login unless you have paid for it. Only paid invoices will be retained on the customer grid and be seen after logging out.
- All renewal actions must be done directly through the county health department. Contact information for your county can be found online at EPHDApps.FloridaHealth.gov.
- Only the account that makes the payment for the permit/license/certificate can print the document from the website.
