A certified birth certificate is required by law to renew your driver's license. Birth certificates with footprints or plain black-and-white copies are not considered certified. Certified copies can only be obtained by:
- Parents
- Legal guardians
- The individual named on the certificate (if 18 years or older)
Computer-Generated Birth Certificates
Accepted as official certifications of birth, these certificates include a state file number and an embossed seal, recognized by all agencies.

- Additional copies (for the same person): $8 each
