POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

OPS Position is based at the Emergency Operations site and will travel offsite for events.  Working hours per day are 8 hours with starting times ranging from 8:00am to 8:00pm Monday through Saturday based on events scheduled. Base Salary is $30 per hour.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Schedule and coordinate events with community partners
  • Patient registration and Data entry into FLShots
  • Provide vaccinations at Community events (Pfizer, Jynneos, Hep-A, Menveo, Flu, etc.)
  • Provide childhood vaccinations in the Immunizations Program or at community events as requested
  • Maintain vaccine inventory, including proper storage, transportation, reconciliation of vaccine inventory daily
  • Assisting with set-up and breakdown of community event sites
  • Contact tracing for disease investigation

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position with the Orange County Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) provides basic social services and intensive breastfeeding education to WIC participants in various locations throughout Orange County. The person in this position will serve as a lead position in the Breastfeeding Department to include performing basic supervisory duties, monitor employee workloads, deadlines and time utilization in the absence of the Breastfeeding Manager and will have authorized “need to know” access to confidential WIC client records and the WIC database. Assignment of duty station, hours and days worked may vary based on agency/site needs.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • The position requires travel within Orange County, therefore, a valid State of Florida driver’s license are required.   
  • Provides intensive breastfeeding support services for Orange County Health Department WIC and Nutrition program through individual support and group classes, and telephone contacts. 
  • Maintains and updates client files and provides follow-up service on all referrals received with proper documentation.  
  • Provides counseling on nipple shields, shells, electric pumps, etc., that are outside of the grant-funded breastfeeding peer counselor scope of practice. 
  • In the absence of the Breastfeeding Manager, will have delegated authority to supervise and monitor employee workloads, deadlines and time utilization. 
  • Effectively communicates with and motivates employees and volunteer peer counselors to attain maximum use of time and resources, ensure accuracy and integrity of work products. 
  • Completes forms and paperwork in hard copy and electronically as required. Keeps accurate records of all contacts made with WIC clients. 
  • Attends breastfeeding training classes, regular in-service trainings and participates in appropriate WIC Program and Health Department meetings and attends conferences and workshops as assigned.  
  • Plans, conducts, and evaluates in-service education and staff development sessions on breastfeeding for WIC and Health Department staff, and as assigned to community groups and organizations.  
  • Participate in the Big Latch On, World Breastfeeding, and Black Breastfeeding Week planning activities annually. 
  • Manage the breastfeeding warmline. Document breastfeeding contacts in the FL Wise WIC System in accordance with department policy.  Documentation is accurate for all contacts made with WIC clients.
  • Provides materials to individuals and/or families about WIC Services, Walk-In Breastfeeding Clinic and Breastfeeding Support Group meetings virtual and in-person.  
  • Assists in the maintenance of tracking systems of WIC participants, breast pump equipment and breastfeeding data.  Records and reports accurate data on all client contacts to Breastfeeding Manager.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is a professional nursing supervisor position requiring independent action and will be responsible for the programmatic aspects of the programs. This individual will be responsible for all supervisory duties including, but not limited to, hiring and selection, developing performance plans, conducting performance appraisals, planning and directing their work, approving leave, and taking disciplinary action as appropriate. DUTIES INCLUDE

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is an independent professional Senior Community Health Nurse position in the School Health Program working under the supervision of a Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor. This nurse provides community health nursing services in assigned schools, including home assessments as needed in the interest of school health. Ensures client records are secure and confidentiality is maintained. This position requires driving to various schools throughout Orange County. Reliable transportation and a valid Florida Driver’s License are required. Provides and coordinates generalized school health services at assigned schools according to the local School Health Services Plan. Demonstrates an in-depth knowledge of health needs, both physical and emotional of school-aged children as evidenced by ability to deliver health promotion education, disease prevention education, and health protection services.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

Performs student record reviews in assigned schools to determine compliance with the following:

  • Certification of Immunization or Certificate of Immunization Exemption
  • Health examinations within the past twelve months for students entering Florida’s schools for the first time to ensure compliance with current laws and requirements
  • Conducts Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) clinic reviews in assigned schools to ensure policies (Medication Administration, Emergency Supplies), and procedures are followed.
  • Reviews annual training of designated OCPS personal with verification of delegate’s understanding of assignment is documented to ensure compliance with current laws and regulations   
  • Participates and conducts basic health screenings (Vision, Scoliosis, Growth, and Development {Body Mass Index}) to school-aged children.
  • Conducts training of DOH- Orange County and Orange County Public Schools (OCPS) staff to help in these screenings.
  • Ensures all basic health screening services provided are entered into the Health Management System (HMS).
  • For students requiring further medical evaluation, ensures referrals are sent out to parents notifying them of their child’s need to be seen by their primary care practitioner for further medical evaluation. Ensures follow-up to parents whom referrals were made and tracks progress. 
  • Provides health education classes to DOH- Orange County and Orange County Public School (OCPS) staff.
  • Participates in orientation and training of new staff as requested. Provides training and instruction to DOH- Orange County and Orange County Public School staff in immunization policies, procedures, and protocols.
  • Communicates with school staff and parents as needed to update requirements.
  • Participates in health fairs and community events (Immunization events) on-going.
  • Provides immunizations to children in Orange County to prepare for back-to-school season and as needed.
  • Ensures vaccines once administered are entered into Florida Shots and Florida’s Health Management System (HMS).

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This is a professional Senior Licensed Practical Nurse position in the Immunization Program, working under the supervision of a Senior Community Health Nursing Supervisor.
  • Conduct immunization assessments and screenings and administer vaccines as appropriate in the immunization clinic and at immunization community events located throughout Orange County, Florida to infants, children, adolescents, and adults.
  • Provides immunization education including the risks and benefits of vaccines. The immunizations Program's clinic is very busy and services a high volume of clients (not including telephone contacts).
  • This position requires the Nurse to multi-task, be proactive, well-organized and prioritize work in a manner that promotes providing excellent customer service and efficient clinic flow to support clients visits from check in to check out.
  • Trains newly hired immunization clinic nurses on vaccine administration.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This position with the Orange County Special Supplemental Nutrition Program for Women, Infants and Children (WIC) is primarily responsible for certifying potential low risk participants to the program and for providing nutrition education and breastfeeding education. Travel may be required.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Certifies clients for participation in the WIC Program in accordance with DHM 150-24.
  • Follows policies and procedures for collection, entry and management of data, as well as operation of WIC computer equipment as stated in DHM 150-24 and the WIC System Guide.
  • Provides culturally relevant nutrition education on an individual basis in the areas of infant, childhood, prenatal and postnatal (including breastfeeding) nutrition to promote development and maintenance of good nutrition.
  • Develops, monitors, evaluates and revises nutrition education plans for individual clients not at medically high risk.
  • Selects, develops and evaluates client educational materials.
  • Coordinates nutrition education services for assigned clients and makes referrals for appropriate services.
  • Evaluates program eligibility status of each client to ensure that a valid issuance of electronic benefits can be performed.
  • Issues WIC Program electronic benefits to certified participants in accordance with procedures outlined in DHM 150-24 and the Florida WiSE System Manual.
  • Schedules appointments for participants through the WIC appointment system.
  • Reviews use of electronic benefits in approved grocery stores.
  • Answers questions regarding access to WIC program services.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

This is highly independent epidemiology position in the area of communicable disease control within the Epidemiology Section of a large county health department in central Florida. Disease surveillance, investigation and control are integral components of duties which often require field work.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE

  • Provides a broad range of services in the Epidemiology Section as a full-time County Epidemiologist.
  • Provides technical guidance and completes epidemiological investigations for the required reporting of communicable diseases and conditions in Orange County for emerging pathogens and provides assistance as requested for neighboring counties as it relates to emerging infectious diseases.
  • Coordinates, investigates, analyzes, and controls outbreaks of suspected diseases in the community for emerging or novel infectious disease preparedness response.
  • Provides assistance to the State Epidemiology Office as necessary.
  • Collaborates with partners for emerging infectious disease response including implementation of non-pharmaceutical interventions such as isolation and quarantine and ensuring and facilitating appropriate laboratory testing.
  • Partners may include health care practitioners and facilities; child care centers, schools and colleges; correctional facilities; county, state, and federal agencies with public health-related responsibilities; nongovernmental organizations; the general public; and others.
  • Creates reports using internal, external, state, and private data. 
  • Analyzes data for outbreak, communicable disease surveillance report, HAI control and prevention and emerging infectious disease surveillance using advanced SAS, SPSS, Merlin and/or EpiInfo statistical software packages.
  • Assists health department management in the development of policy to address health improvements in target groups or other problems identified in the assessment stages.
  • Conducts extensive studies in the community and for the Academic Health Department.
  • Assists management in the coordination of planning material to be used in strategic plans and multi-year plans.
  • Participates in the writing and development of public health reports or articles for peer-reviewed journals.
  • Creates or updates appropriate operational plans and protocols for responding to emerging infectious diseases or conditions.

POSITION DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES

  • This an independent professional public health nursing position in the Pine Hills Neighborhood Center for Families.
  • The incumbent provides professional nursing to identify qualifying participants in the programs such as: schools, homes, clinic, and community settings.
  • Provides nursing support as needed at outreach/awareness and incident response events within the community to include mass immunization, emergency response activities, and community health engagements.
  • Nursing support may be required outside of normal business hours to accommodate community needs during evening and weekends hours.
  • The Nursing Program Specialist will provide case management services in any of the NCF locations (Taft, Union Park, Bithlo/Christmas, Englewood and Pine Hills).
  • This case management includes identification of needs/goals; assessments; counseling (including education), ensuring participant can access medical care and has a medical home: referral and follow up of client/family needs, concerns goals and priorities in a holistic manner.
  • The nurse provides basic health screenings to the opt-in students, immunization case management, health education, fluoride treatment program, family counseling and/or management on student’s medical conditions.
  • Services are provided through health management by individual contact, and conferences with the teacher, students, and parents (for students that opt in health services).
  • Referral services request are received from school staff, these referrals are based on health problems, the action for services thru a referral process is home or school visitation to assess the concern, after assessment nurses refer and provide support to the families.
  • Provide immunization to the children in their community at the season of highest demand of this service (back to school season), this vaccination take place at the NCF location.
  • The NCF nurse provides vaccines in the community following the CDC schedule vaccines guidelines and recommendations, the nurse is also responsible for vaccine storage and handling, and accountability for their assigned NCF sites to include the amount of the vaccine ordered, shipped, received, used and on hand; monitoring Verilert temperatures twice daily, uploading data into Florida Shots and daily review of physical inventory, these duties include the accountability for the waste of vaccines.
  • The nurse will focus on health issues in the assigned schools setting for the students that opt-in for screening services (vision, hearing, growth and development, scoliosis). Case management of the referrals for abnormal screenings. 
  • Makes home visits when appropriate. The nurse will provide health education in the form of lectures, audiovisuals aids, individual contact and conferences with teachers, students, and parents to promote school and community health, which impacts on the students’ ability to grow and develop.
  • Nurses will provide home visits. Services are provided through nursing assessment of individual and family needs. Prevention and control of communicable diseases, maternal and child health assessment and education, health information, along with education and counseling.
  • Services are provided to adults and children with health referrals these ones include follow up.
  • Referral services are requested by school staff and partner agencies, services include, follow up or clinic assessments
  • In the community services are provided to the Senior Citizen thru health screenings, health education and health counseling towards their chronic diseases such as diabetes and hypertension, home visit services are available upon to referral from Citizen Senior partner.
  • The nurse will assist and participate in the coordination of community activities related to health, such as: health fairs, health screenings, health education programs, wellness promotion, youth development and immunizations.
  • Review NCF quarterly reports with the other nurse to help ensure accuracy and completeness. Provide support staff.
  • Train and orient new nurses to the NCF program.
  • Review EAR entry to ensure timely input.
  • Attend NCF meetings, CCC Conference and OCHD meetings with supervisor to receive “pass downs”.

This position is responsible for making contact with pregnant women, interconception women and families to conduct an assessment of their needs, determine their eligibility for Family Planning and Prenatal Health, WIC, Healthy Start home visiting services and linkage to supportive services to maximize families' health, well-being, and self-sufficiency. This position is responsible for striving to assure each participant's continued involvement in prenatal and child health care as well as other needed community and Healthy Start services, through actively engaging the participant and building on the families' strengths, assets and goals. This position conducts outreach; provides education in a group setting and plans, coordinates and facilitates health care services for identified high risk participants via telephone calls, home visits, office visits and/or community site visits (i.e. Department of Corrections Facility, UCP/BETA) or a mutually agreed upon location to assist with continuity of care.

 

DUTIES INCLUDE
