Maternal Child Health Virtual Learning Network Sessions

MATERNAL CHILD HEALTH VIRTUAL LEARNING NETWORK SESSIONS 

ORLANDO – The Florida Department of Health in Orange County is inviting community partners and health professionals to attend the Maternal Child Health Virtual Learning Network Sessions. These virtual learning network sessions will address important issues surrounding infant mortality and how the community can work together to target these concerns, including learning about evidenced-based programs proven to reduce infant mortality.

The virtual learning sessions will take place at the Florida Department of Health on Orange County, Central Health Center, 4th floor located at 832 W. Central Boulevard, Gardenia Room Orlando, FL 32805. Each session takes place from 12:00 to 5:00pm each day and will be facilitated by the U.S. Department of Health and Human Services Health Resources and Services Administration (HRSA) partnering organizations.

The following are the scheduled topics:

  • February 25-26 - Safe Sleep
  • March 11-12 - Smoking Cessation
  • March 18-19 - Pre/ Early Term Birth
  • March 25-26 - Pre/ Interconception Care
  • April 1-2 - Perinatal Regionalization

The death of a baby is always alarming. According to the Florida Department of Health, Bureau of Vital Statistics, in Orange County the infant mortality rate is 7.5 and this rate is significantly higher among black women, in fact doubled. All countries of the world measure the infant mortality rate as an indicator of general health status. Register for a session or the series to learn more.
