DOH-Orange Names Rossie Bonefont as WIC Director

Dr. Kevin Sherin, Director and Health Officer of the Department of Health in Orange County has named Rossie E. Bonefont, MPH, RD, LDN as the new Women, Infants and Children (WIC) Director.

Ms. Bonefont has worked in the Department of Health-Orange (DOH-Orange) for eight years, and 10 years with the State of Florida. Debra Amoedo previously served in this role before her retirement in March of this year. 

“We are proud of Rossie and her latest achievement. I know she will be a great WIC leader for our DOH-Orange WIC family and team,” said Dr. Kevin Sherin.

With over 31 years of professional experience, Ms. Bonefont brings knowledge in the areas of nutrition in public health, clinical nutrition, quality improvement and management. She holds a master’s degree in Public Health and a Dietetic Internship from the University of Puerto Rico, Medical Science Campus in San Juan. She earned her bachelor’s degree in Science of Nutrition and Dietetics from the University of Puerto Rico, Rio Piedras Campus. 

Ms. Bonefont will supervise a staff of 115 and oversee eight clinical sites when she begins her new position on June 2, 2017.
