Infant Mortality Prevention

Florida Department of Health in Orange County

Infant mortality is the death of a live-born baby during the first year of life. This rate reflects the health and well-being of women of childbearing age, their infants, and the quality of available healthcare. In 2022, Orange County had an infant mortality rate of 5.7 deaths per 1,000 live births.

The Florida Department of Health in Orange County (DOH-Orange) strives to continuously find innovative, data driven, evidence based and action-oriented strategies to improve the health and wellbeing of county residents and infants.

IMPACC—Infant Mortality Prevention, Action, Community Collaboration

IMPACC works to improve the health and well-being of women, infants, and families by enhancing current policies and making system changes.

Our goal is to lower infant mortality rates overall and achieve greater declines in groups with the highest rates. We use innovative, data-driven strategies to make this happen.

Our activities include collaborating on our Maternal and Child Health Summit, where we provide resources and education for mothers and babies. We also form community partnerships to improve access to quality care and support economic stability.
